The Preservation Dallas Historic House Specialist designation is awarded to Realtors who complete a two-day certification course at the Intown Living Center, located in the historic Wilson House on Swiss Avenue. This program assists REALTORS® in marketing Dallas' intown neighborhoods.
The intensive, two-day seminar features an orientation to the Preservation Dallas Intown Living Center, with its displays and information on over 160 intown neighborhoods. Presentations are made by local experts such as Virginia McAlester, author of A Field Guide to American Houses , and Carol Roark, Dallas Public Library archivist and author of Fort Worth's Legendary Landmarks . A bus tour of Dallas' historic neighborhoods and conservation districts is included.
Preservation Dallas support for Realtors doesn't end with the seminar. The Intown Living Center is available for Realtors' use five days a week. Realtors do research here, and they bring clients to see the resources available for preservation of older houses and to increase their appreciation of Intown neighborhoods. They often go on to participate in Preservation Dallas tours and seminars, learning more about their city and making new contacts. The continuing presence of many Realtors in our organization as members, leaders and fundraisers attests to the value they place upon Preservation Dallas programs.
